Trevor got home from his mission at 11:00pm last night and
6 hours later Bryan and Angel were in the car traveling up to
University of Utah to visit the football coaches and see practice.
While Trevor was on his mission, I received an email from his
high school coach, Coach Matua telling me that the coach from
University of Utah was asking about Trevor and was wanting to
know what his plans were when he got home from his mission.
So Bryan called Coach Ena and spoke with him and he told Bryan
that he was very interested in visiting with Trevor when he returned
from his mission. We only had a little window for the visit because
we were planning a trip to Nauvoo 24 hours after he returned home
from his mission. So while there they watched practice going on and
Trevor and Bryan saw that he could easily play with these guys,
because Trevor was at the same level, even off his mission.
Coach Ena encouraged Trevor to think about coming up ASAP so he
could start working out with the team and start learning the plays.
He told him that they couldn't offer a scholarship yet, so the first year
would have to be paid for by us and FAFSA. We felt like that was
worth the sacrifice to be able to help Trevor reach his dream in playing
at the next level D1. So we planned to take him up to Utah on
August 21st to start classes on the 22nd and practices.
