Kylee's post about the accident

On Thursday, Trevor was at work stacking drywall at the bottom of an incline when the emergency brake of an over 10,000-pound forklift went out. It rolled down the incline and pinned him between it and the stack of drywall. He says he looked left and right and didn't see anyone around, then tried yelling "Help!" twice, but didn't have enough air and blacked out. We don't know how much longer it was before coworker noticed and ran over to back the forklift up. He said that Trevor collapsed into a puddle of rain on the ground, hit his face, bit his tongue, chipped his tooth, and went into shock. He was confused, punching and kicking his coworkers and the EMTs when they got there. They had to sedate him on the spot. For the next day or so he was confused and would try to pull his tubes out any time they tried to wean him off of the sedative. All of his scans looked okay and miraculously there were no broken bones, just a tiny air pocket in his lungs. The doctors warned me a thousand times that he wouldn't remember anything about what happened, that he might have brain tissue damage when he woke up, and that there's a pretty small chance he'll have the same personality because of how long he went without oxygen. After almost two days of waiting for them to wake him up and pull out his breathing tube, the doctors came in with that purpose. I think they were all scared he was going to break the tie-downs to his bed and start punching them again haha. However, when he came to, he was his normal, gentle self. He barely had a voice, but he looked around, looked down at his chest, looked at me and asked, "Who saved me?" He remembers everything until he blacked out. When we moved from the ICU, our CNA happened to be the son of one of the EMTs that was with Trevor on the scene of the incident. He told us that his dad had told him that he would be surprised if that kid came out of this okay. All of the doctors and nurses kept telling us how much of a miracle he is. He was discharged from the hospital with nothing but a little air pocket in his right lung and a few stitches and bruises. He still gets dizzy and disoriented when he stands up and has to go in for more follow-up x-rays on his lungs, but after the 6 weeks of resting at home that the doctors have ordered him to do, I think this angel is going to be as good as new. Thank you for all your love and prayers during these scary past four days! We are blessed beyond belief.
