Trevor walked into the kitchen with this shirt on and handed me a RED sharpie and asked me to make a check mark in the YES box. This was her way of asking Trevor to be her date
for PREFERENCE dance coming up.
Such a cleaver way to ask!!

Kyle's Dream

This was sent to me (Tonya) during the night of 1/22/2014,  from Kyle P, a soccer coach of Cecilee’s who we have known since Cecilee was 5. His dad was not a member of the church and he had this dream and woke up immediately and wrote this to me. He had never heard dad sing.  Incredible dream and confirmation that dad is still using his beautiful voice to bring the spirit and working hard on his mission on the other side of the veil.
Tonya: I hope you don't think I am weird but I had a dream last night I feel I should relate to you. I dreamt that I was taken into a room somewhere in heaven. Once I looked in I saw my father sitting at a table at the far end, dressed in a white robe conversing or being taught by others. As I went to go across the room suddenly a man stood and starting singing the most beautiful song in a rich voice. Although I do not know the language at all I instantly recognized it as being sung in Hawaiian and that it was a tribute to the Savior. I sat and listened until the end and was extremely moved by the Spirit. After the song was finished the man who had sung came to greet me. I knew at once it was your father. He shook my hand and told me he needed to visit with my father and to please excuse them. He then went and gathered my father and took him into another room. I looked and waved goodbye. My father gave me a look of love and approval and although not verbalized in the dream I knew your father wished for me to relate that he is busy, happy and anxiously engaged in work on the other side of the veil.

Obviously I was not extremely close to your father and I have no special purview to have any revelation for your family; however I do feel prompted to share. I hope you do not mind. I hope all is well with you and your family.

* Note — As part of his “day job,” photographer Robert Hoppie rode along with the Snow Canyon Rugby club team to a West Coast tournament in Southern California and was kind enough to file this report, along with these incredible photographs, for St. George News. SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Apparently word is out, even in Southern California, that you don’t mess with Snow Canyon Rugby.
The Snow Canyon rugby club team made its annual pilgrimage to Southern California Saturday to pit its skills against some of the Golden State’s top teams and domination was the word of the day as the Warriors once again brought home the top trophy.

The 11th and 12th graders competed in a U18 bracket and left no doubt that the boys from Utah can bring the ruck. Snow Canyon was scheduled to play three round-robin format games, but were only able to play two matches. The third scheduled team apparently didn’t want any part of the beatdown the Warriors had dished out earlier in the day, so they packed up and went home, leaving Snow Canyon with the first place hardware.
The Warriors’ first match of the day was a sound victory over a Southern California club team called the Tigers. The Warriors beat them 21-0 with Sam Slivers scoring a couple of tries.
The second match result was more of the same, with Snow Canyon again victorious over a Pasadena team 29-5. Trevor Horlacher and Chase Gubler got into the scoring column to help the Warriors to the victory.
Coach Jay Day said he felt that the tournament yielded positive results and also gave the Warriors some idea of what things needed to be worked on.
“I was pleased with the way the boys executed and played together as a team today,” he said. “We’re a small team, so we are having to use our speed to our advantage and out-hustle the teams we play.”
This is the third year the rugby Warriors have made the six hour bus trip here to Santa Clarita.
“This tournament is a great kickoff to our season, it gives us unity, coach Michael Puriri said. “It’s all about team. We like to get that unity started early in the season.”
Puriri said he’s excited for the upcoming rugby season and the tremendous growth in popularity the sport has undergone in southern Utah.
“We are looking to seniors Connor Parry, Kade Derrick and Mason Reed to take lead roles on the team,” he said. “They have been with us since seventh grade, so we know as coaches they are more than capable of leading this team.”
Snow Canyon’s rugby team won the Utah State Championship in 2010 and 2011. The Warriors were runners-up last season, so they are looking to get back on top.
Local rugby has had a surge in popularity in the southern Utah area in the past few years. Rugby isn’t a sanctioned high school sport in Utah at this time, so the teams are run as clubs. affiliated with the schools and their students, but not officially representing the school.
“We are excited for some of these boys that have been in our program to come back from their (LDS) missions and college and help inject some interest and knowledge about rugby into our community,” Day said.
The younger rugby Warrior squad was in action this weekend at the Santa Clarita tournament as well. They were able to play four matches winning two and losing two. The 9th and 10th grade team is a mix of boys that have played club ball for a few years and those who have never played before.
“The experienced kids have done a good job of showing the new guys the way we do things,” said Dan Roberts, coach of the younger group. “It’s a big help to have those boys that can help me teach the fundamentals to the new guys.”
The Warriors will be in action again next weekend as they travel to Las Vegas for another tournament. They also have a trip to Gilbert, Ariz., planned in February for more tournament action.

Out with our Marrieds

Bryan and I went to the Robinson reception with Cambria and Jeff.
They had the cutest little VW bus outside with a little trailer that they drove over.
Afterwards we went to the new hamburger place called The Habit.
It was delicious. We got a teriyaki burger, fries and chocolate shake.
I love spending time with my daughter and her husband.
I am so proud of her and what she has become in a wife and person.

PJ Time at the Basketball Game

Trevor and his friends get way into the basketball games.
They have themes for the games and this night happened to be PJ time.
When he got home I walked into the kitchen and he is standing there in his
underwear eating. I walk into the family room and step on something wet.
I asked Trevor what was this wet pile of clothes on my floor.
He said, "Oh those are my clothes, I went through a car wash"
I said, "In your jeep?" He said, "No in the back of Navy's Truck!"
WHAT!!!!
The funny things this kid does with his friends!!
It was 10 degrees outside when they decided to do that.

JT's Priesthood Ordination

Dad in his Football Days

Kidney Infection

It started on Friday at work after I ate a salad from Durangos, I just didn't feel very good, but later on that evening I started feeling pain on my right side. I ignored it and peed every hour during the night. Still ignored it, and it came to Saturday and I was OK but still in pain. The pain was getting a
little stronger and stronger, by Sunday morning, I felt YUCKY!!!
We went to JT's ward for his priesthood ordination and then to their house.
I wasn't as social as I usually am, and just stayed in one place. We came home and Bryan
went to one of his football players homecoming and I stayed and slept.
I woke up and went to a couple stake meetings that I had and by the end of the stake meeting my presidency asked me what was wrong. I told them my side was killing me,
so Lydia got a nurse on the phone to check for appendicitis.
She told me to go home and rest, I came home and asked Bryan for a blessing and then I went to my room and laid in my bed and just CRIED!!! I asked my dad what I should do.
Then I got the courage to tell Bryan to take me to the hospital so I can get checked out.
They got me into a room and did an IV, drew blood and had me pee in a cup. I came into the ER looking homeless wrapped in a huge MICKEY MOUSE BLANKET with 2 rice bags connected to my side. I was feeling nauseous and feverish. After they did my IV, I couldn't help but to think of my poor dad and what he went through all of the pokes and needles and tests and rolling over and PAIN he endured. I just started to get tears in my eyes. I miss my dad so much and being in this hospital room is NOT helping. The Dr. came in and told me that it wasn't appendicitis, it was a KIDNEY INFECTION. I was so excited and said, "YES!!!" then the Dr. told me, those are pretty serious, but they put me on an antibiotic and sent me home to guzzle cranberry juice.
I came home and had the best sleep, but the next morning I just slept and had the cutest little visitors come to see me!!! Tia and her cute boys came to cheer me up and they sure did!! I was sick for 2 days and finally felt better on Wednesday. I will not take my health and strength for granted.
