Volunteer Appreciation Week at Tuacahn.

The housemanagers are in charge of the Volunteers at Tuacahn.
A little bit of information, we have 280 volunteers and we use 30 volunteers an
evening to make things run smoothly in the house and around the plaza, etc.
They do a lot for Tuacahn, so we wanted to thank them during the week.
It was a lot of fun to see their reactions when they walked into the back.

Sydnee has a date to Sadies

Sydnee was at work at Tuacahn and she received a text and picture from Bryan.
"This showed up on our doorstep, I hope you are on your way home soon"
Dylan answered her. On the poster it said,
"You can't SCARE me away from Sadies" Dylan
Sadies is on Halloween this year.

Super Blood Moon Eclipse Night

This has been a huge publicly advertised event that was going
to be taking place. A blood moon, and eclipse all in one session.
People were saying that it would be the sign of the end of the world, etc.
The first presidency of the church came out with this statement:
A rare confluence of a lunar eclipse and a supermoon set to happen this weekend has prompted such widespread fear of an impending apocalypse that the Mormon Church was compelled to issue a statement cautioning the faithful to not get caught up in speculation about a major calamity.
Sunday night's "blood moon" and recent natural disasters and political unrest around the world have led to a rise in sales at emergency preparedness retailers. Apocalyptic statements by a Mormon author have only heightened fears among a small number of Mormon followers about the looming end of time. The eclipse will give the moon a red tint and make it look larger than usual. It won't happen again for 18 years.
It's unclear how many Latter-day Saints buy the theory, but Mormon leaders were worried enough that they took the rare step this week of issuing a public statement cautioning the faithful not to get carried away with visions of the apocalypse.
Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints told its 15 million worldwide members that they should be "spiritually and physically prepared for life's ups and downs," but urged them not to take speculation from individual church members as doctrine and "avoid being caught up in extreme efforts to anticipate catastrophic events."
The Mormons preparing to hunker down Sunday night aren't alone. Some from other religions also fear a doomsday scenario. A Christian pastor in Texas has written a book predicting a world-shaking event.
Storing away enough food and water in case of disaster, job loss or something worse is part of the fundamental teachings of the religion. Many homes in Utah are equipped with special shelving for cans of beans, rice and wheat. The belief that regular history will someday end, bringing a second coming of Jesus, is embedded in the minds of Mormons and the church's official name.
Though most Latter-day Saints probably haven't even heard of this latest theory tied to the blood moon, the church's decision to address it publicly is significant and shows leaders felt the need to reassert their authority on the matter, Mormon scholars said.
"For it to filter up to that level means and for them to decide to send out a policy letter means that they felt there was something they needed to tamp down on," said Patrick Mason, the Howard W. Hunter Chair of Mormon Studies at Claremont Graduate University in California
Kevin Allbee, spokesman for Utah-based Emergency Essentials, said his company has seen a steady rise since June with sales up 200 to 300 percent. He attributes it to a variety of events leading to more anxiety, including the earthquake in Nepal, Russian's intervention in the Ukraine and economic concerns in Greece and China. He said it goes well beyond Mormons in Utah. They do most of their sales online with customers outside the state.
The public pronouncement by the church comes after leaders earlier this month sent a memo to administrators and teachers in the church's education system telling them to be wary of Mormon author Julie Rowe's books.

Rowe writes about and speaks to audiences about a near-death experience in 2004 when she says she crossed over into the Spirit World and was shown tragic upcoming world calamities and told she would be expected to tell others in the future. "That time has come," her website proclaims. It is believed her teachings have fueled some of the speculation.
The church memo says that while Rowe is an active member of the religion, her books are not endorsed and should be recommended as a teaching resource.
Rowe's publisher, Spring Creek Book Co. in Idaho, did not return requests for comment. She issued a statement to The Salt Lake Tribune, which reported on the rise in apocalyptic worries among some Latter-day Saints.
Rowe said she doesn't intend to make her comments church doctrine, but chose to share her story to help people prepare for the "times we live in by increasing their faith in Christ and by looking to our prophet and church leaders for guidance."

My son has found his friend-Jorge

My son wrote home and said, "I Found My Friend"
He had a deep LOVE and friendship with Jorge for the last few months.
He has always said how much he loves and enjoys teaching Jorge.
Well Jorge got baptized on Grandpa's Birthday (9-27).
This story reminds Trevor of Jorge.

Happy Heavenly Birthday DAD-65 yrs

My mom is adorable she always makes a sign for my dad's
final resting spot. She made the cutest Birthday sign, she found a
gift bag of Superman and put my dad's face on there.
We miss my dad so much, but we KNOW that we will see him again
and that he is working hard.

SWISS DAYS

WE love supporting KALAMITY in their performances.
This weekend they performed at Swiss Days and their new CAUSEi s Beats for Byron.
As Tia was closing their show up with a few words,
She saw Byron and his mom in the audience, she was shocked,
because she and Kalamity hasn't met them yet.
This was so touching to see them meet for the first time.
There were a lot of tears inn the audience.
It was a beautiful moment to witness.

Cheering at games

Our Baby & missing my kids

Sydnee is the baby of the family, and therefore she is by herself at home now.
She is totally a Daddy's Girl and is spoiled by him.
Our world is centered around her now because she is all we have, where did the time go.
But we LOVE watching her in all that she's involved in. She keeps us young.

But there are times when I start getting weepy and missing all of my kids under one roof.
I miss them coming home after school and my house being chaotic and loud and telling me
all of the happenings at school. I miss the girls sitting on the counters and me telling them to
get off because it's for FOOD not BUTTS. I miss hearing them laugh and laying in the
family room talking and sometimes fighting.
I miss having their books and backpacks in the hallway, telling them to come pick up their
shoes and stuff in the Family Room. I miss washing my son's stinky, dirty football uniforms.
I miss making breakfast for them and sitting around
the table and discussing different topics. I miss being a crazy busy mom getting from one
practice to another, whether it was soccer, football, basketball or Rugby. I miss cheering them on
the sidelines. I do miss telling Bryan to stop yelling at the ref's and to keep his opinions to himself.
I miss having family prayer and all of my kids in the circle. I miss them!!!!
But I am so grateful for the people that they are NOW and what they are doing in their lives.
I look at them and think, Bryan & I must have done something right with raising them.
They are quite incredible people, both of my girls have married handsome and incredible men who love them completely and treat them like princesses. (We wouldn't want anything else)
Married in the temple, strong testimonies, self reliant and hard workers.
My son is in Mexico preaching the Gospel and loving the Mexican people. He is gaining more there
than he could ever gain here at this time. This is where he is suppose to be!!!
Even though as his mom, I think I MISS HIM THE MOST!!!
But so grateful for the example and sacrifice that he is making for our Savior.
Sydnee is a happy cheerleader with lots of friends enjoying high school with a job at Tuacahn.
I love my children and the joy that they bring into my life. I am so privileged to be their mom.
They continue to set the example for me everyday.
I hope to be like them when I grow up!!!
(Of course I write this with tears streaming down my face & lots of love for them!)

My sunshine

These three girls are my Sunshine.
They bring me so much joy when they are together, watching their friendship and love for each other
is a reward for a mother to watch. I love hearing them laugh together and I love when
Sydnee goes to her older sisters for advice. Whether it's for boys, dances, clothes, makeup, etc.
The older girls tell Sydnee all of the time, "You don't need friends, YOU HAVE US!"
They love her so much and they set such great examples for her to follow.
When she is having friend drama, they are the first to come to her aid and wrap their arms
around her and take her shopping.
Sydnee absolutely loves that every teacher at Snow Canyon High School know that she is Cambria, Cecilee and Trevor Horlacher's little sister. She loves that she looks just like Cecilee and
she calls her her twin.
She listens to them over her mom. I could tell her something and she doesn't agree, but if I tell my girls to tell her something, then she will believe them. haha
I love my girls so much and I am so grateful they are mine.

I am a SERIOUS MISSIONARY Mom

When Trevor received his call to Ciudad Obregon, Mexico I of course joined
Missionary Moms on Facebook. I then noticed that there were a lot of different
missions that had their own facebook page. Well I didn't find one for his mission.
I did find the Mission Presidents and it was call Mision Ciudad Obregon Mexico.
But my thought was to help other parents with questions while getting their kids ready
for Mexico. So I started a facebook page and met a lot of wonderful mom's.
Here are a few missionary mom's that I got to meet. They were very grateful to me
for helping them and starting this page.
Here are the Morrison's - Jay & Paola
These are the Wahlstrom's-Aimee & Brad
This is another mom from the Mexico facebook - These are the Ream's- Todd & Jennifer
It's been so much fun meeting these people.
These are pictures of one of our
SC 2014 WARRIOR MISSIONARY MOM'S meeting
We have on an average 12 mom's each meeting.
We love sharing about our missionaries. We bring a page of pictures & letters
and we each leave with a stack of letters to send to our missionaries.
