Crutches for Haiti

There is so much help being poured out to help those who were involved in the massive devastation in Haiti. Dr. Simister's brother went over to help, a few of our patients went over and a good friend of mine, Shellie went over for 3 weeks to help. Well at work as we were talking about Haiti and those going over to help one of our assistants from the back said that her uncles are all over there helping in the medical part of it. They said that there are so many people that are having there legs amputated, but they are concerned about them being able to get around after having it done and they don't have access to crutches, wheelchairs or walkers. So they started a foundation and started to collect crutches, wheelchairs, etc. So she mentioned if any of us have any of these, that she is going up and would like to take some with her. After our meeting I got to thinking, why not include our patients and put up a sign in the waiting room and let them see the need. Well I also added it to our facebook and we have had a few of our wonderful patients bring in crutches. We will be collecting till March, we have another plane going over there to take them. Every little bit counts. We have had a few groups come in for donations of toothbrushes and toothpaste to put together hygiene kits. It's the least we can do.
